Jega is a town in Kebbi State in northwestern Nigeria, in the dry savanna belt close to the Sahel. From above, it has a dense older core of compounds and narrow lanes. Wider roads lead out in several directions across level, open land.
The town is a local centre for trade and farming, with markets serving the surrounding rural communities. The landscape is flat and largely treeless, so the settlement stands out clearly from the land around it. Newer building has followed the main roads and extended the town's edges.
