Jiangshan lies in the interior of the Jiaodong Peninsula in eastern Shandong, within the wider orbit of Qingdao. The land here is mostly low and open. On a map, the town is a modest cluster of streets surrounded by a regular pattern of farm plots, village lanes and straight rural roads.
The main roads run through the town along simple lines, with residential blocks and workshops lined up beside them. Beyond the built-up edge, the geometry becomes looser. Small villages are scattered across the fields, linked by tracks, and a few watercourses and ponds break up the grid.
