Kachisi is a town in the western highlands of Oromia, west of Addis Ababa. It lies in a region of hills and river valleys, where the plateau starts to break up into deeper terrain. On a map, it appears as a compact cluster of streets, with a few roads leading out into the surrounding countryside.
The town serves as a local centre for the farming communities around it. Its layout is simple. A main road is lined with buildings, and a small network of streets and paths spreads around it. Beyond the edge of town, cultivated plots, pastures and scattered homesteads cover the rolling land.
