Kadayal lies in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, close to the Kerala border, where the plains begin to rise toward the Western Ghats. On a map the landscape is soft and rolling, with the town's lanes following the terrain and houses scattered among gardens and plantations rather than packed into tight blocks.
The area is well watered and heavily planted, and rubber and coconut are common in this part of the district. Streams descend from the hills, and roads branch into narrow paths that lead up toward the forested slopes. The pattern feels closer to neighbouring Kerala than to the drier plains of Tamil Nadu.
