Kālāvad lies in the Jamnagar district of Gujarat, on the Saurashtra peninsula. The land is broad and mostly flat, and from above the town appears as a compact centre of close, irregular streets with main roads leaving toward Jamnagar, Rajkot and nearby villages. Around it, farmland spreads out in a patchwork of field boundaries.
The town serves as a market centre for an agricultural area, and the rhythm of the map reflects it: a dense core where trade happens, and a quick transition to fields. Small seasonal rivers and check dams cross the Saurashtra landscape, leaving thin lines and small patches of water on the wider map.
