Kapellen lies just north of Antwerp, in the corner of Flanders that reaches toward the Netherlands. It is not one compact town but a group of centres, including Kapellen itself, Putte and Hoevenen. From above they appear as clusters of streets set within a lot of green.
The defining feature on the map is the balance between built-up land and trees. Villa neighbourhoods with curving roads sit among patches of woodland and old estates. To the north, the heathland and pine forest of the Kalmthout area begin, some of the most open landscape near Antwerp.
A Kapellen map poster makes that pattern easy to read. The railway line from Antwerp toward Roosendaal runs straight through the municipality. The port and industrial zones along the Scheldt lie to the west, and Putte runs right up to the Dutch border, where the street pattern continues across without a break.

The Antwerp–Roosendaal railway crosses the municipality in a long, straight line. Stations sit along it, and the main centres have grown around those stops.
Border at Putte
At Putte the built-up area continues straight into the Netherlands. The map shows streets that ignore the national border, which is a curious detail for anyone who knows the place.
