Kareli is a town in Narsinghpur district in Madhya Pradesh, in the broad, fertile valley of the Narmada River. The valley floor here is wide and gently sloping, framed in the distance by the Vindhya hills to the north and the Satpura range to the south. The town sits in the middle of this farming landscape as a compact grid of market streets.
The main railway line between Jabalpur and Itarsi runs through Kareli, and the town has long been a trading point for the district's crops. Narsinghpur is known across the region for sugarcane and jaggery. Produce from the surrounding villages passes through the town's markets on its way to buyers elsewhere.
