Kertosono is a town in Nganjuk Regency, East Java, on the lowland plain near the Brantas River, one of the longest rivers on Java. From above, the town appears as a compact cluster of streets surrounded by rice fields, with roads and rail lines running through it and linking it to other towns across the region.
The town has long been a stop on important transport routes. Railway lines pass through Kertosono, connecting it with Surabaya, Madiun and Kediri, and the station forms a focal point on the map.
