Keynsham Map Poster & Print
Keynsham sits roughly halfway between Bristol and Bath, at the point where the River Chew flows into the River Avon. The rivers mark the town's northern and eastern edges on the map. They loop through water meadows and the green space of the Memorial Park. The main line between Bristol and Bath passes along the valley.
The historic core follows the high street, a long route with narrow side streets and lanes. Fragments of Keynsham Abbey, a medieval Augustinian house, survive near the park. On the riverside to the north is Somerdale, the site of the large Fry's chocolate factory, later run by Cadbury. It was a major employer until it closed, and the land has since been redeveloped for housing.
