Kotido Map Poster & Print
Kotido is a town in the Karamoja region of north-eastern Uganda, in a dry, open landscape of plains, seasonal streams and distant hills. It is the main centre of Kotido District and a meeting point for roads across the region. From above, the town is a modest cluster of streets and compounds around a central area. Roads run out in several directions toward villages and other towns.
The surrounding land is home to the Jie, one of the pastoralist peoples of Karamoja, for whom cattle have long been central to economic and social life. Family homesteads, known as manyattas, are scattered widely across the plains. Seasonal riverbeds show on the map as faint lines that fill with water only after the rains.

Radiating roads
Roads leave the town toward Moroto, Kaabong, Abim and other destinations. Their long lines across the plains give the poster its structure.
Seasonal riverbeds
Dry channels cross the landscape and fill only after the rains. They appear as faint, meandering lines that soften the geometry of the roads.
