Kouvola Map Poster & Print
Kouvola is a city in south-eastern Finland, in the region of Kymenlaakso. It became much larger in 2009, when it merged with several neighbouring municipalities, and now covers a wide area of forest, farmland and lakes. The main town centre is compact, and on a map most of the municipality is open, lake-dotted countryside.
Kouvola grew as a railway junction, and it is still an important stop where lines from Helsinki meet routes heading east and north. The Kymi River flows through the area in a long course toward the Gulf of Finland. Repovesi National Park, known for its cliffs and lakes, lies partly within the city's borders.

The river flows through the area toward the Gulf of Finland. Its winding course adds a strong natural line to the landscape around the town.
