Kukatpally lies in the northwest of Hyderabad, and on a map it is one of the most densely built parts of the city. A national highway runs through it toward Mumbai, and the elevated metro follows the same main corridor, giving the district a strong spine. On either side, streets branch out into residential colonies, markets and apartment blocks.
Much of its character comes from the Kukatpally Housing Board Colony, usually called KPHB, a large planned development whose regular phases and numbered roads contrast with older, more organic neighbourhoods nearby. The district's proximity to the IT corridor around HITEC City drove rapid growth, and the map shows how fields and villages were absorbed into continuous urban fabric.
