Kutiyāna is a town in the Porbandar district of Gujarat, in the Saurashtra peninsula. The surrounding country is mostly flat and agricultural, with fields stretching in every direction. On a map the town forms a compact, closely built centre, with a few roads leading out toward nearby villages and larger towns in the district.
The older part of Kutiyāna has the dense, irregular street pattern of a traditional Gujarati market town, with narrow lanes branching between tightly packed buildings. Toward the edges, the plots become larger and the streets straighter, and then the built-up area gives way to farmland. Seasonal watercourses in the area add soft curving lines to an otherwise level landscape.
