Lahān sits on the flat Terai plain of Madhesh Province in southeastern Nepal. From above, the town is organised around one strong line: the East-West Highway, which crosses the plain here and gathers shops, workshops and bus stops along its edges. Side lanes branch off it at irregular angles and quickly give way to fields.
The ground is low and almost level, so the map shows few contours to shape the streets. Instead, the pattern comes from irrigation channels, field boundaries and small watercourses running south toward the Indian border. Rooftops thin out gradually, and village clusters appear as small islands in the farmland around the town.
Lahān is widely known across Nepal and northern India for its large eye hospital, which draws patients from far beyond the district. A Lahān map poster records that quieter structure: one long road, a dense core, and a web of lanes that loosens as it meets the plain.
