Lambayeque Map Poster & Print
Lambayeque is a city on the northern coast of Peru, just north of Chiclayo, on a desert plain crossed by irrigation from the rivers that come down from the Andes. The region was home to the Moche and Lambayeque cultures, and the city is known for its museums, especially the Royal Tombs of Sipán.
The city's centre follows a regular colonial grid around its main square, with straight streets and even blocks. Around it, irrigated fields form green patches in the dry coastal land, crossed by canals and roads. Chiclayo's urban area lies close to the south, and the Pacific coast is a short distance to the west.
