Landskrona lies on the west coast of Skåne, facing the Öresund strait. Its map combines a regular grid of streets in the centre with harbour basins, piers and industrial areas along the shore. Parks and green belts separate the older town from the newer districts that spread inland and along the coast.
The town's most striking feature is Landskrona Citadel, a sixteenth-century castle surrounded by broad moats and fortifications and regarded as one of the best-preserved moated fortresses in Europe. Its geometric outline is unmistakable on the map. A Landskrona map poster shows how that angular system of water and ramparts sits beside the grid of the town.
Offshore lies the island of Ven, where the astronomer Tycho Brahe built his observatory in the sixteenth century, and ferries link it with Landskrona's harbour.
