The Akhtuba channel
The Volga's great eastern branch passes the town, a steady curving line that divides the gridded settlement from the maze of the floodplain.

Leninsk Map Poster & Print
Leninsk lies east of Volgograd on the Akhtuba, the long branch of the Volga that splits from the main river and runs parallel to it for hundreds of kilometres. The ground between the two waterways is a wide floodplain of side channels, lakes and wooded islands, and on a map it reads as a web of curved water lines.
The town itself is flat and orderly. Straight streets of single-storey houses run in a regular pattern on the drier left bank, and the open steppe begins where the blocks end. The settlement was called Prishib before it took its present name in the early Soviet years.
A Leninsk map poster puts the regular streets beside the tangled water to the west. That contrast is what makes the composition. On one side there are ruled lines and right angles, and on the other there are meanders, oxbows and islands, with the Akhtuba running between them.

Floodplain water web
West of the town, countless small channels, ponds and oxbow lakes cover the land between the Akhtuba and the Volga, and in monochrome they look almost like lace.
Steppe-edge grid
The residential streets form a plain rectangular pattern that stops abruptly at open farmland, typical of settlements on the dry lower Volga plain.

Leninskを選ぶ理由
想いが詰まった地図
The map suits anyone who grew up in the lower Volga country, among melon fields, river beaches and long summers on the floodplain. It is simple and graphic, and it holds a lot of personal meaning.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps using the old name Prishib as a subtitle, and pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit your room.
