Litherland Map Poster & Print
Litherland is a town in the borough of Sefton, just north of Liverpool and a short distance inland from the docks at the mouth of the Mersey. It grew with the port and its industries in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Today it is mostly residential and part of the continuous built-up area that runs up the coast from Liverpool.
The map is defined by density and straight lines. Rows of terraced streets and later housing estates fill the area in a close pattern. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal cuts through on a steady course, crossed by bridges at intervals. Main roads and a railway run north toward Crosby, and the open ground of Rimrose Valley lies to the north.
