Longkong is a town in the Chongqing municipality in south-western China, in the hilly country that spreads across much of the region east of the city of Chongqing itself. From above, this landscape is a mosaic of ridges, valleys, small reservoirs and terraced slopes, and settlements are shaped closely by the terrain.
In towns like Longkong, streets tend to run along valley floors or follow the contour of a slope, and the built area often stretches out along a main road rather than forming a compact block. Surrounding farmland is broken into many small fields fitted between the hills, which gives the map a finely detailed texture.
