Lunéville Map Poster & Print
Lunéville lies in Lorraine, in eastern France, near the confluence of the Meurthe and the Vezouze. The town is best known for its château, built in the early eighteenth century for the Dukes of Lorraine and often called the Versailles of Lorraine. On the map, the château and its formal park, Les Bosquets, form a large, ordered space right beside the town centre.
The historic streets spread out from the château in a fairly regular plan, a legacy of ducal urbanism. The rivers curve around the edges, adding water and bridges. In 1801 the Treaty of Lunéville between France and Austria was signed here, and the town has a long tradition of faience production.
