Luputa is a town in Lomami province in the south-central Democratic Republic of the Congo, on the high plateau between the Kasai and Katanga regions. The surrounding landscape is a mix of savanna, farmland and wooded valleys. From above, the town forms a broad, fairly regular pattern of streets and blocks, with roads leading out into the surrounding country.
Settlements on this plateau often grow along trading roads, and Luputa's layout reflects that practical growth. Homes and plots spread widely rather than stacking up, so the map shows generous blocks, open spaces and the gradual thinning of the built area toward the town's edges, where fields and paths take over.
