Maatmeur is a town in the Monastir Governorate of Tunisia, in the Sahel region a short distance inland from the coast. From above, it appears as a compact cluster of streets and courtyard houses where local roads converge, set within a landscape of cultivated land. The pattern is typical of Sahel towns, dense in the center and open at the edges.
The surrounding countryside is dominated by olive groves, which from above form fine, regular textures of rows and plots crossed by narrow tracks. Roads lead out toward neighbouring towns and toward the coast, giving the map a network of lines connecting Maatmeur with the wider Sahel.
