Malāyer Map Poster
Malāyer lies in the south of Hamadan Province in western Iran, on an upland plain enclosed by ridges of the Zagros ranges. The city is laid out along the main roads connecting Hamadan with Borujerd and Arak. From above, its central streets and squares are surrounded by newer neighbourhoods and a broad belt of orchards and vineyards.
Malāyer is known across Iran for its grapes and raisins, which grow on the slopes and plains around the city. It is also known for its furniture workshops, a craft that has become one of the city's defining trades. The surrounding district has long been an agricultural centre, and carpets woven in the area carry the Malayer name.
