Māliya, also known as Maliya Miyana, is a town in Morbi district in western Gujarat, close to where the Saurashtra peninsula meets the Kutch region. The land here is very flat and low-lying, and the map shows a compact settlement surrounded by wide open ground, with few natural features to interrupt the roads that cross it.
The town lies on the main road link between Saurashtra and Kutch, and that highway is the strongest line on the map. To the north and west, the land opens toward the tidal creeks and salt-producing flats that edge the Gulf of Kutch and the Little Rann, a landscape where salt pans form geometric patterns clearly visible from above.
