Martinez is a community in Columbia County, Georgia, just northwest of Augusta. It is mainly suburban, and its map shows this clearly. Curving residential streets, looped subdivisions and many cul-de-sacs fill the area between a few main roads. This branching, tree-like pattern contrasts sharply with an older city grid.
Washington Road is the main commercial corridor. It runs through the area towards Augusta and has shopping centres and businesses along it. Wooded strips, creeks and small lakes run between the subdivisions and add soft, irregular shapes. Augusta National, home of the Masters, is a short distance down the same road, just over the Augusta line.
