Monsefú lies in the Lambayeque Region of northern Peru, a short distance south of Chiclayo. The surrounding land is part of the dry coastal plain, turned green by irrigation, and on a map the town appears as a compact grid of streets bordered by fields and linked by roads to nearby towns and the Pacific coast.
The town is widely known for its handicrafts, particularly straw weaving and textiles, and for its regional cooking. It is often called the City of Flowers, a nickname that reflects both its gardens and its local pride. Crafts fairs held here draw visitors from across the region.
