Monte Caseros sits in the southeast of Corrientes province, on the western bank of the Uruguay River. Directly across the water lies Bella Unión in Uruguay, and the Brazilian border is close by, which places the town near one of the region's triple frontiers.
From above, the town follows the typical Argentine pattern of a square grid of blocks laid out from a central plaza, pressed against the curving riverbank. The Uruguay River runs broad and slow beside it, with islands and sandbanks breaking its surface, and flat farmland stretches away inland.
