Moriki is a town in Zamfara State in north-western Nigeria, in the dry savanna belt that stretches toward the Sahel. The land around it is mostly open, flat farmland. Settlements like this one grew up as local market and administrative centres, reached by roads that cross wide, open country.
On a map, Moriki looks dense in the middle and loose at the edges. Close-set compounds and narrow lanes fill the centre, then give way to scattered plots and footpaths heading out into the fields. With no hills or rivers to steer it, the town has grown fairly evenly in all directions.
