Meandering lanes
Lanes curve and fork around plots and groves with no fixed grid. From above they form a dense, lace-like network that fills the frame.

Mulakumūd Map Poster & Print
Mulakumūd is in Kanyakumari district, at the far southern tip of Tamil Nadu, in the green strip of land between the Western Ghats and the sea. Settlements here tend to run into each other. From above, the town has no hard edge; its lanes wind through a continuous mix of houses, coconut groves, paddy fields and ponds.
The street pattern is organic, shaped by old footpaths, field boundaries and the gentle rise and fall of the land. Main roads link it to neighbouring towns across the district, and small irrigation tanks and channels appear as scattered water shapes among the lanes.
A Mulakumūd map poster suits the character of the place: a fine, meandering web rather than a planned grid. In black and white, that pattern becomes delicate and textile-like, a portrait of the small towns that make up most of this corner of India.

Tanks and ponds
Small irrigation tanks and ponds are scattered among the houses and fields. Their compact water shapes punctuate the fine linework of the streets.
Continuous settlement
The town merges gradually with nearby villages, so the map shows an almost unbroken spread of lanes and homes across the green coastal plain.
