Mundra sits on the northern shore of the Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat. For most of its history it was a modest coastal town. Today its name is tied to Mundra Port, a large privately developed port that handles containers, bulk cargo and energy imports, with major power plants nearby.
The map shows two different scales side by side. Inland, the old town is a tight knot of streets. Towards the sea, the ground opens into flat terrain cut by tidal creeks, mangrove fringes and salt pans. Port infrastructure lays long straight lines across it: rail sidings, access roads and berths reaching out over the water.
