Mussende is a municipal seat in the eastern interior of Kwanza Sul province in Angola, well away from the Atlantic coast. The land around it is broad and sparsely built, so on a map the town reads as a small, concentrated grouping of streets surrounded by generous empty space.
The layout is simple: a few principal roads meet at the centre, with shorter streets and paths branching into residential areas. Rather than a dense grid, the pattern is open and slightly irregular, shaped by the terrain and by the routes connecting Mussende to other towns in the province.
