Lake Mweru
The lake fills one side of the map as a broad, empty surface. Its eastern shoreline gives the poster a single, dominant edge.

Nchelenge Map Poster & Print
Nchelenge lies on the eastern shore of Lake Mweru in Zambia's Luapula Province, and the lake dominates any map of the place. The shoreline runs roughly north to south, and the town stretches along it, with houses, markets and landing sites between the road and the water.
Lake Mweru forms part of the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Fishing is the main activity here, and boats pulled up on the beaches are part of daily life. Inland, the land rises gently into bush and cultivated plots.
Because the town follows the shore rather than a grid, its plan is long and linear, with short lanes running down to the lake. A Nchelenge map poster captures this simple, strong shape: a curving shoreline, the road running beside it and a thin band of settlement between land and water.

The shore road
The main road runs parallel to the lake and holds the town together. Most buildings are gathered along it, so the settlement forms a long, narrow strip.
Lanes to the water
Short tracks lead from the road down to the beaches and fishing landings. They form a rhythm of small perpendicular lines along the shore.

Nchelengeを選ぶ理由
想いが詰まった地図
For people from Luapula, and for those who have worked on the lake or in its fisheries, the map is a simple, faithful portrait of a place defined by water. The long shoreline composition looks calm and balanced on any wall.
