Nokha is a town in Rohtas district in western Bihar, set on the wide, level plains south of the Ganges. On a map it appears as a compact centre with lanes branching in several directions, surrounded by an almost uninterrupted spread of farmland. There are no hills or large rivers in the immediate frame, so the roads and field boundaries carry the drawing.
Rohtas is one of Bihar's major rice-growing districts, supported by canal irrigation drawn from the Son river system. Nokha is known locally for its rice trade and milling, and the town functions as a collection point for grain from surrounding villages. Irrigation channels cross the land in long, deliberate lines.
