North Potomac Map Poster & Print
North Potomac is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Maryland, in the wooded suburbs northwest of Washington, D.C. Its map looks nothing like a traditional town. There is no main street and no grid. Instead, curving residential roads branch off a few larger routes and end in cul-de-sacs, with green stream valleys running through the gaps between them.
The area grew mainly as a planned residential suburb in the late twentieth century, and the layout shows it. Neighbourhoods were laid out one at a time, each with its own looping internal streets. Parks and stream corridors were left as green space between them. It is often mentioned as one of the more educated and well-off communities in the region.
A North Potomac map poster turns that suburban pattern into something close to abstract art. The branching roads look like leaf veins or river tributaries, and the open spaces between them give the composition room to breathe.
