Nuevo Imperial is a district in the Cañete province of the Lima region, set in the fertile valley of the Cañete River a short way inland from the Pacific. From above, the town centre is a modest cluster of streets surrounded on every side by irrigated fields, canals and rural roads that divide the valley floor.
The Cañete valley is one of the agricultural areas that supply the coast, and Nuevo Imperial belongs to that farming landscape. The district sits slightly further inland than its neighbour Imperial, and the dry hills at the edge of the valley are never far away, marking the limit of irrigated land.
