Old Bridge is a large township in Middlesex County, New Jersey, stretching from Raritan Bay inland across wooded suburbs. Its map is dominated by curving residential streets, cul-de-sacs and loops, the typical pattern of postwar development. Major routes cut through it, including Route 9, Route 18 and the Garden State Parkway nearby.
In the north, the Laurence Harbor section meets Raritan Bay along a stretch of beach and bluffs. Cheesequake State Park, with its tidal marshes and pine woods, lies on the township's eastern edge. The name comes from an early bridge across the South River, near where the settlement began.
