Padre Bernardo lies in the interior of Goiás, in the belt of municipalities surrounding Brazil's Federal District. From above, the town is a modest cluster of blocks, mostly laid out as a regular grid, with the wide, lightly marked countryside of the central plateau opening on every side. Roads leave the edges of town and quickly thin into long rural lines.
The map is mostly about contrast. There is a small, dense centre, a looser ring of newer streets, and then open ground crossed by streams and farm tracks. In black and white, that shift from tight blocks to sparse lines shows how a plateau town sits in its landscape, and how far the settled area actually reaches.
