Palafrugell Map Poster & Print
Palafrugell sits a few kilometres inland in the Baix Empordà, and its municipality reaches the sea at three small coastal villages: Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc and Tamariu. From above, the town is a compact, irregular core surrounded by newer streets, with roads spreading east through pine-covered hills to the rocky coves where the Costa Brava meets the sea.
In the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries Palafrugell was a centre of the cork industry, and the town houses a museum devoted to it. The writer Josep Pla was born here, and Calella de Palafrugell is known for its summer evening of havaneres, the sea songs associated with Catalan sailors and the Cuba trade.
A Palafrugell map poster ties town and coast together. The dense centre sits inland, while the coastline to the east breaks into coves, headlands and tiny beaches, each with its own cluster of streets. The result is a composition with two focal points, one urban and one maritime, joined by winding roads through the hills.

Inland core
The historic town centre forms a compact, irregular knot of streets, with newer districts ringing it on the flat land toward the hills.
Cap de Sant Sebastià
The headland between Llafranc and Tamariu rises above the coast, a quiet high point on the map where roads thin out into pine woods.
