Palmital is a municipality in the western interior of São Paulo state, in agricultural country where large fields cover low, rolling ground. The urban area follows a pattern common to towns in this part of Brazil. A regular grid of rectangular blocks, laid out with clear intent, forms a crisp shape that stands out against the surrounding farmland.
From above, the town reads as a neat rectangle of streets with a few main avenues running through it. At the edges, the grid stops abruptly and fields begin. Roads and rail corridors connect Palmital to neighbouring towns in the region, and small streams and patches of vegetation break up the agricultural land in between.
