Paraguaçu lies in the Sul de Minas, the southern part of Minas Gerais known across Brazil for its coffee. The town sits on undulating ground, and its street plan shows it. A more regular set of blocks surrounds the older core, and beyond it the streets bend to follow slopes and small valleys as the town spreads out.
Around it, the map fills with rural roads winding between coffee farms, pastures and patches of woodland. Streams cut through the hills in every direction, and the region's large hydroelectric reservoirs are not far away. These organic lines give the poster movement and contrast strongly with the more ordered blocks at the centre.
