Pasān lies in northern Chhattisgarh, an upland area of rolling hills, forest and cultivated clearings. On the map it is a compact settlement around a road junction, with a market street, residential lanes and scattered houses along the approach roads. Past the last buildings, the map shifts quickly to fields and wooded slopes.
Much of this part of the state is forested, and the surrounding villages are home to Adivasi communities whose farming follows the monsoon. Streams cut through the land and run full in the rainy season. On the map they leave thin, branching lines that feed into larger rivers downstream.
