Pauri Map Poster
Pauri is the administrative centre of the Pauri Garhwal district in Uttarakhand, spread along a high ridge at well over a thousand five hundred metres. There is no grid here. On a map the town is a set of roads following the contours, doubling back in tight hairpins, with buildings stacked in bands along the slope and footpaths cutting straight down between the loops.
Its setting is the reason people know the town: on clear days Pauri looks out across deep valleys toward the snow peaks of the Garhwal Himalaya. The Kandoliya temple sits in a wooded patch above the town. Below, terraced fields and scattered villages cling to the hillsides, joined to Pauri by narrow roads that trace every ridge and gully.
