Penha lies on the coast of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil, just north of Balneário Camboriú and Itajaí. It is best known as the home of Beto Carrero World, one of the largest theme parks in Latin America. Its string of beaches draws visitors through the summer.
From above, Penha's shape follows the coast. The town spreads along a series of small bays and beaches separated by rocky, forested headlands. Streets run parallel to the shore, with shorter ones climbing inland toward green hills. The fishing community of Armação has its own compact cluster by the water.
