Phillaur is a town in the Jalandhar district of Punjab, India, on the Sutlej River. Its fort, associated with the era of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, now houses the Punjab Police Academy. Its position at a major river crossing has always shaped the town, since the old Grand Trunk Road and the main railway both pass through here on their way across the Sutlej.
