Pineda de Mar sits on the Maresme coast north of Barcelona, where a long, straight shoreline shapes the rest of the map. The coastal railway runs beside the beach and draws a firm line between the sand and the town. Behind it the streets unfold in rows that tilt gently uphill. From above, the place reads as a band of dense blocks stretched along the water.
Further inland the pattern loosens. Streets begin to follow the ground, bending around small valleys and dry streambeds that drain toward the sea, and the built area thins into scattered houses and green slopes. The older core lies a little back from the shore. Many Maresme towns first grew away from the beach and only later reached down to it.
