Planadas Map Poster & Print
Planadas is a municipality in the south of Tolima, Colombia, high in the Central Cordillera of the Andes. The town sits on a relatively level shelf of land, which may be what its name, a Spanish word for flat ground, refers to. All around it, the terrain drops and climbs steeply into forested valleys and ridges.
From above, the town centre is a compact grid, a small patch of ordered streets set against a sweeping mountain landscape. Beyond it, roads wind steeply through the hills, switching back to reach the rural veredas where much of the population lives and farms.
The area has become known for high-quality coffee grown on these mountain slopes. A Planadas map poster contrasts the neat town grid with the looping mountain roads, a picture of a place shaped by altitude. It suits coffee growers, their families and anyone who has travelled into the Tolima highlands.

Switchback roads

Coffee slopes
The rural land around Planadas is steep farming country known for its coffee. The town grid thins quickly into scattered tracks.
