Safety Harbor Map Poster & Print
Safety Harbor lies on the northwest shore of Old Tampa Bay in Pinellas County, next to Clearwater and Oldsmar. On a map the bay shapes the city. The eastern edge is a shoreline of small coves and marsh. Downtown is compact, and Main Street runs directly to a waterfront park and pier. Residential streets spread west and north around parks and wooded pockets.
The city grew up around the Espiritu Santo Springs, mineral springs long believed to have healing properties. The historic Safety Harbor Resort and Spa still stands on the site. To the north, Philippe Park preserves a large Tocobaga temple mound beside the bay. The park is named after Odet Philippe, an early settler credited with planting some of Florida's first grapefruit groves.
