Safranbolu Map Poster & Print
Safranbolu lies in the hills of northern Anatolia, in Karabük Province, and its map is shaped by the terrain. The historic quarter, Çarşı, sits low in a place where narrow valleys meet, with lanes squeezed between steep slopes. Uphill and further out, the newer district of Kıranköy has a more open layout, so the map moves from a knotted old centre to calmer, broader streets.
The town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognised for its many well-preserved Ottoman-era houses, timber-framed homes with overhanging upper floors. It is named after saffron, which was once traded and grown here. Landmarks such as the Cinci Han caravanserai and the Hıdırlık hill viewpoint sit within the old quarter, where the street pattern has changed little over centuries.
