Sāmbūrvadakara lies in the southern part of Tamil Nadu, in Tenkasi district, where the plains meet the foothills of the Western Ghats. From above, the town is a compact cluster of streets among green farmland. To the west the ground rises toward the mountains, and the map shows the change from cultivated plain to wooded slopes.
