Sangrūr Map Poster & Print
Sangrūr lies on the level plains of southern Punjab, in open farming country crossed by irrigation canals. The town was once the capital of the princely state of Jind, and that history shapes its map: an older, dense core with gates and narrow lanes, surrounded by newer areas laid out more openly.
The former rulers left gardens, palaces and public buildings, including the Banasar Garden with its marble pavilion. Today Sangrūr is the district headquarters and a market centre for one of the most productive wheat and rice regions in India, with canals and field boundaries forming an almost geometric landscape around it.
